BIOECONOMY

The bio-economy includes the production of renewable biological resources and the conversion of these resources, as well as processing residues and by-products into value-added products, such as food, feed, products and services of biological origin, as well as bioenergy.

The development of the bio-economy helps to improve the management of natural resources and allows access to new and diversified markets, which is very important to tackle climate change.

At the same time, the bio-economy helps economic growth and prosperity and creates employment in rural and isolated areas of greatest need while reducing dependence on fossil fuels and thus contributing to the economic and environmental sustainability of primary production and related manufacturing activities.
