In Italy the eastern Alps represent one of the areas with the highest vocation for timber and silviculture. Innovations
and Best practices are most likely to be found here. This field visit strives to show the best ones available.
The visit will end in the framework of Fiera e Festival delle Foreste a forestry exhibition where all the held outdoor in
the amazing scenery of the Cansiglio Forest. In this occasion a lot of forest operators, enterprises and decision makers
gather to participate to this very important forestry related event.
OBJECTIVES:
Starting from the SWOT analysis produced firstly on the Italian level and subsequently on the SWE hub’s SWOT
analysis a number of weaknesses have been identified and recognized. The main objective of this field trip is to
highlight different approaches to deal with the weakness identified, specifically talking about the forest
fragmentation, structural lack of sawmills and lack of forest roads paired with the digital solutions and innovations in
the sector.
For this reason, the contents of the field visit will be about:
Trentino Rinnovabili: sensor use for logistic efficiency and decreased environmental impact in the biomass sector.
Magnifica comunità di Fiemme: Communal Forest management of scattered properties and sustainable resources
usage
Microtec: advanced sensor technologies for sawmills; possible prospective and future appliances
TARGET AUDIENCE:
Considered the objectives and the specific encounters will be making we suggest a target audience of entrepreneur,
forest operators, decision makers and forest owners or representatives of the previous categories.
It’s obvious that any other category of professional is more than welcome and encouraged to participate.

PRACTICAL INFORMATION:
The study visit and the given programme are still undergoing a process of definition of the last aspects more
information and a more complete programme will follow in the coming weeks.
Given the vast area in which the field visit will be held any transportation necessity can be addressed to the field visit
organization and the most suitable solution will be found.
For the abovementioned reasons inscriptions are more than welcome as soon as possible.
