The Cluster of Bioeconomy and Environment of Western Macedonia-CluBE, in collaboration with the University of Western Macedonia, ARCTUROS, and the University of West Attica, is organizing the 1st Winter Academy of Environmental Educators in Nymfaio Florina. This initiative is part of raising awareness on climate change «Climate Community_WM«. This action confirms the twinning with the SKYROS Project.

The Climate Community_WM campaign is currently in its first year of existence. There are already three active actions. One of them is the Academy of Environmental Educators. Since 2016, it’s been active as a summer academy on the island of Skyros. In December, trainees from around the country gather in Nymphaio, Florina, for an educational experience in a winter wonderland.

Recognized as a pioneering force in training the new generation of environmental educators, the Academy of Environmental Educators equips individuals to actively contribute to formal, non-formal, and informal education, promotion of responsible environmental behaviour and health advocacy. Graduates will be able to make a meaningful contribution to the school system, environmental centres, cruise ships, museums, gardens, mass media and various areas related to Environmental Education, Public/Community/Environmental Health issues.

The aim of the Academy is to provide a new and unique training pathway for environmental education professionals. It also aims to develop skills to enable students to communicate effectively and deal with environmental and health-related issues.

The overarching goal is to foster active participation in decision-making processes related to the environment and health, promoting Environmental Health for the protection of citizens and all social groups.

The program targets university students and graduates of environmental sciences, health and welfare sciences, biological and social sciences, as well as humanities. It also caters to postgraduate students in related studies and those with a background or interest in Environmental Education, including trainers, interpreters, journalists, and individuals actively engaged in Environmental Education, Public/Community/Environmental Health issues.

The educational process adopts the philosophy of an ecological community, dedicated to cultivating an environmental culture within civil society. Participants gain theoretical and practical knowledge of environmental education methods through the promotion of good practices and experiences.

The Academy will be held in Greek.
