13 Φεβ Το έργο CARBONICA για την ανθρακοδεσμευτική γεωργία σε Ελλάδα, Βόρεια Μακεδονία και Κύπρο
Οι υπεύθυνοι έργων CluBE, η Δρ. Σοφία-Ναταλία Μποέμη και ο Δρ. Γιώργος Μαρτινίδης συμμετείχαν στη δημόσια εκδήλωση έναρξης του έργου CARBONICA, που πραγματοποιήθηκε στις 8 Φεβρουαρίου 2023, στη Θεσσαλονίκη.
Το έργο CARBONICA, HORIZON EUROPE, έχει ως στόχο τη σύνδεση των οικοσυστημάτων ανθρακοδεσμευτικής γεωργίας Ελλάδας, Βόρειας Μακεδονίας και Κύπρου, μέσω της ίδρυσης του CARBONICA Excellence Hub.
Η ανθρακοδεσμευτική γεωργία εφαρμόζει πρακτικές που βελτιώνουν τον ρυθμό με τον οποίο το CO2 αφαιρείται από την ατμόσφαιρα και αποθηκεύεται στα φυτά ή το χώμα.
Το εταιρικό σχήμα του CARBONICA αποτελείται από οργανισμούς, επιχειρήσεις και ιδρύματα από όλο το φάσμα, μεγιστοποιώντας την αποτελεσματικότητα της εφαρμογής του έργου, και εξασφαλίζοντας ότι το Excellence Hub θα προωθήσει την ανθρακοδεσμευτική γεωργία στις τρεις χώρες.
Το έργο θα συνδέσει και θα ενδυναμώσει τα οικοσυστήματα καινοτομίας στις τρεις χώρες μέσω της εκλογίκευσης της Έρευνας & Ανάπτυξης μεταξύ τους ώστε να υποστηρίξει την ανθρακοδεσμευτική γεωργία. Θα το πετύχει μέσω νέων επιχειρηματικών μοντέλων για τη γεωργία, που λαμβάνουν υπόψη τη δέσμευση άνθρακα, συνδέοντας τους υπεύθυνους χάραξης πολιτικής με την κοινωνία των πολιτών, καθώς ταυτόχρονα προωθεί τη μείωση του ανθρακικού αποτυπώματος.
Τα θεματικά πάνελ κάλυπταν: στρατηγικές και χρηματοδότηση για ένα μέλλον με χαμηλά επίπεδα άνθρακα, καινοτόμες δράσεις για την εφαρμογή υπηρεσιών οικοσυστημάτων, δημιουργία clusters για το μέλλον μιας κυκλικής οικονομίας με χαμηλό άνθρακα, και το μέλλον του πράσινου branding.

The CARBONICA project, funded by the Horizon Europe Programme, aims to connect the carbon farming ecosystems of Greece, North Macedonia and Cyprus, through the establishment of the CARBONICA Excellence Hub.
Carbon Farming implements practices that are known to improve the rate at which CO2 is removed from the atmosphere and stored in plant material and/or soil
The CARBONICA Partnership consists of organizations, private entities and institutions from across the spectrum, maximizing the efficacy and potency of the implementation effort and ensuring that the Excellence Hub will successfully instigate Carbon Farming in the three countries.
It will connect and strengthen the innovation ecosystems of the three countries by streamlining the R&I between them to bolster the adoption of Carbon Farming, by coming up with new business models for the agrofood industry that would take into account carbon sequestration, by bringing together policy makers and civil society, all the while fostering the reduction of their carbon footprint.
The public launching event included an introduction to the CARBONICA projects, and four panel discussions featuring policymakers, stakeholders, entrepreneurs and researchers active in the field of agrofood. The thematic panels covered: strategy and funding for a Low-Carbon Future, Innovation actions to deliver Ecosystem Services, Clustering the future for a low carbon circular economy, and the future of green branding.
Dr. Boemi and Dr. Martinidis participated in the panel for clustering, presenting how CluBE has developed synergies between local and regional bodies and enterprises in the sectors of the circular economy, including agrofood, and Climate policies and climate-resilient pathways for a low-carbon future.
